THE YEAR WAS 1915

In 1915, with God’s help Springhill was organized under the leadership of Rev. H.M. Dillard. The church membership consisted of 35 members. Rev. I.C. Nimmons served as Pastor and several auxiliaries were established. Following his leadership God continued to bless Springhill M.B. Church with spiritual leaders. Among them were Rev. N.J. Johnson, Rev. Miller, Rev. Warren and Rev. Gardner. After Rev. Gardner’s departure, the members along with Rev. C.H. Sheppard, interim pastor, the church was completed.

THE YEAR WAS 1914

a few Baptist believers had a desire to worship God together in their small community of Sulphur Springs. There were no churches constructed in the area and a building in the area was used on a rotational basis with an African Methodist Episcopal congregation. The owner decided to sell the property to the first congregation that raised one hundred dollars. We are eternally grateful that Springhill was blessed with the finances.

THE YEAR WAS 1949

under the Pastoralship of Rev. James Scantling, members marched into a new church.

THE YEAR WAS 1978

Rev. Brooks was installed as Pastor of Springhill M.B. church. During his tenure more auxiliaries were formed including a male chorus and vacation bible school. Rev. Michael White was appointed Pastor after Rev. Brooks’ departure and he served as Springhill’s leader until August 1996.

THE YEAR WAS 1996

Rev. Eugene Garnett, Sr. was called as Interim Pastor on September 8, 1996 and accepted his calling as Pastor on October 11, 1996. He was formally installed on December 8, 1996. Since Rev. Garnett’s installation, membership has increased and more defined auxiliaries have been established.
